Series Champion New York Yankees in 1977
- Lifetime .293 batting

Nicknamed "Boomer" after
hitting a huge home run in his third major league at-bat,
this left-handed slugger
will always be remembered as the major leagues' first designated
hitter. He was a New York Yankee at the time, and in the historic
at-bat on April 6,
1973, he faced Luis Tiant of the Boston Red Sox and walked
with the bases loaded. A hero to New York's
Jewish fans. Ron said of the accomplishment: "I've been
a DH all my life: Designated Hebrew."
Since retiring from
baseball, Mr. Blomberg has been very active in the community,
dividing his time between speaking engagements,
personal appearances, and
fundraising for various charitable causes. He has motivated thousands
of people across the country, from school students to corporate executives. Being
very proud of his heritage, Ron
has especially reached out to the Jewish community,
sharing his experiences as a minority player in
Major League Baseball.
